Adios 2008
Well, this year has been quite a year. I’ve definitely learnt new things. And if I were to choose ONE word to describe it, “drama” would fit it best.
Let’s see…
I welcomed the new year by spending it with my family. Started with a change in church. My cell group was allocated to shift back to Jurong West. Suat Ying left us to join Luke in his cell group and Samantha joined us in our cell group. I started with my ACCA studies. And I had the most serious quarrel/argument with my parents that made things quite bad.
Then, it was the once every four years leap year. And a loss in the family of a close family friend.
Following that, it was Chinese New Year. This year we met our relatives for almost everyday in the first 5 days? Taking turns to head to each others’ places. Quite funny. Also, my close cousin headed back here to have her customary wedding for her side of the family. Before that she already had one in UK.
For the month of April, it was the month that my favorite idol drama had their last episode!! Haha. If you realized, I’m typing each paragraph in ascending month order.
I welcomed May by having my 21st birthday celebration! I left my first company since graduation for another one in Cityhall area. But after 2 weeks, I resigned due to a miscommunication and was unemployed till July. David Cook won the American Idol! I started getting ready for my 1st round of exams. There was the major earthquake that happened in Sichuan taking away thousands of lives.
For June, I took my exams. Attended Azlindah’s engagement and Ivy’s wedding. I also had the first round of morning prayer meetings at jurong west. Made me love praying and conversing with HS so much. Then I headed to Bintan for a short holiday. And I headed over to Jasmine’s place again. It was near her birthday. Being a 21st, we thought it would be nice if she saw us and our gifts but......
Started my current job since July and love it till now. Good working hours, nice people, patient mentors. Peiwen flew over to Auzzie-land to further her studies, min celebrated her 21st.
August started well with the Olympics in Beijing. My uncle and auntie from states came back for a holiday.
Then, the downs came. My results came. I failed the 1st two modules. My cousin’s baby was hospitalized in the ICU due to a brain infection. Initial changes started in the cell group due to a change in leadership. Most were slightly affected but we stayed strong together.
I just kept going down emotionally and was affected slightly spiritually too and decided to start a change by changing a blog site. I closed the former blog of three years for a new one. Having a new add that reminds me to have faith, hope and love. I was rather determined to not slip even more down emotionally. My close friends would have known and felt it. Thank God for them. More natural disasters happening.
On a lighter and happier note, I managed to go to the Singapore grand prix. So exciting. It made me love Formula 1 racing SOOOO much. Started cooking dinners for the family as my mom had a change in her working hours.
Following that, had a birthday celebration with Ying and her family. Her dad treated us to international buffet at Ritz. Had my first time too at Old Town-White Coffee with my family.
Then, for November, Lewis Hamilton was champion for the F1 race 2008! Obama won the presidential elections in the states! We also had the history making Asia Conference 2008!! followed by my preparation of my 2nd round of exams. Oh ya. We also started our Arise and Build fund-raising for our church building!
Finally, for December, I had my 2nd trip up the flyers that is closed now till the new year with my family, a short trip to Batam with the ladies in the family. I had my 1st D&D with my current company and won in the lucky draw rather nice presents. I pampered myself to a new camera(Nikon S60).
Not forgetting throughout the year, it was filled with celebrations of many 21st birthdays. I also went to David Tao’s and Ah*Mei’s concerts! And I really caught A LOT of movies this year.
Drama? haha. i think it is.
But through the year, I stayed really close to friends of the same faith. With them, it wasn’t that tough to move forward with a smile.
Would like to take some time to thank some people whom have really been part of this year’s chapter in life.
In random order! Bear, Peiwen, Min, Ying, Lijia, Michiie, Grace, Suat Ying, Johnny, Joanna, AK, Ah gong, Jing, Joelle, Rebecca & Joyce. Of course there were others who cheered the days up as it passed but these are the few primary ones.
These are the main people. I know they make an effort to read my blog rather regularly. They send me sms-es to push me on. I know they love me for who I am and will be there for me when I need them. Like when I’m going crazy and ridiculous, they’ll wake me up my ideas. Haha. Thanks guys! For being my strength when I thought my pillars were collapsing. I thank God truly for all you precious darlings.
It’s really been quite a year but I look forward to the coming year. Even if it means I may have more things to learn. In this way, I gain wisdom. :)
If I were to choose a song, I thought this is a rather appropriate song. I recently bought his album. He’s from the backstreet boys in case you don’t know. It was actually released in 2006 but back then, the purchasing power wasn’t that high so I resisted buying. But now, in this festive season, what can I say? I love me. A bit of pampering won’t kill. Haha! :P
Brian Littrell - You Keep Giving Me
So many reasons to be thankful
So many blessings that I can't repay
And I never would've made it here without You
Sending angels to guide me on my way
You keep givin' me joy
You keep givin' me happiness
You keep givin' me hope
You keep givin' me everything I wish
You keep givin' holding me
When I'm about to fall
And if even all of that was not enough
You keep givin' me love
(You're givin', You're givin' me love)
I know that I'm not always easy
And I know I put You through some trying days
But in spite of all the worries that I gave You
No, You never let my Angels get away
You keep givin' me joy
You keep givin' me happiness
You keep givin' me hope
You keep givin' me everything I wish
You keep givin' holding me
When I'm about to fall
And if even all of that was not enough
You keep givin' me love
Have I told You lately (have I told ya)
How Your love has saved me
It takes me to place I've only dreamed
I'm so thankful, Lord, for sending me angels
You keep givin' me joy
You keep givin' me happiness
You keep givin' me hope
You keep givin' me everything I wish
You keep givin' holding me
When I'm about to fall
And if even all of that was not enough
X2
You send angels to guide me from up above
You just keep gvin' me
You just keep givin' me love
You're givin' me, givin' me, givin' me...
How can I thank you?
How can I thank you, Lord?
You're the
One who's blessed me with everything
You keep givin' love...
You keep givin' me... givin' me love
You! You! You! Givin' me, givin' me
You're givin' me, givin' me, givini' me...
My everything
You keep givin' me love
God bless! ^-^

Deut 32:10-12 (NIV)
10 In a desert land he found him,in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
11 like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.
12 The LORD alone led him; no foreign god was with him.

take MY hand, I'LL take the lead, every turn will be safe with ME.
in the mood for blogging so here i am. :)
Bear: This is for you! I hope it encourages you. :) i tried tagging. somehow i cant. :(
Krisy: i saw the blog entries! the pics were lovely!! :) go take pics of the new place. i want see! :) and i'll reply to the emails soooon. :)
hmm, i think blogs are really a essential part of me now. i update myself with what my gems in life are going through in life and they get my updates too. :) so people, please update the blogs!
sometimes i wonder if i am really busy or i just have too many things on hand. everyone that wants to meet me up says they have to book me in advance. and they have to hope that nothing else crops up to postpone or cancel our arranged meet-up. someone enlighten me on how i should feel about that? :(
anyways, Asia Conference was fantastic!! :) i don't think i will have the time to update everything. but if you want to know what happened, click HERE :) credits to city news! :)
hmmm, i'll just share on one thing. i was up super early for the morning prayer meeting on sunday. the last day of the conference. it was a personal prayer time instead of the corporate one. so i took some time to meditate on the word .
i was led to Acts 7. The story about Joseph. i was at first giving thanks for the year and as it draws to a close, i wanted wisdom and favor as 2009 approaches. from glory to glory. :)
if you look with me to Acts 7. it says that people were envious of Joseph (v.9). do you feel that sometimes too? not that we're being arrogant but really sometimes in life, one is more blessed than the other(we feel). even i sometimes get a little envious of others. BUT GOD WAS WITH HIM. :)
He delivered him out of trouble and gave him favor and wisdom in all his house. (v.10)
that was what i was praying for! amazing right? :)
then it went about saying about a famine and great trouble that came but Joseph had the wisdom to handle them. how the family was together when Jacob, Joseph's father passed on.
i was really encouraged by this (all the period of about 15 mins during the prayer time) and i hope it will for you too.
somehow ever since poly, for me personally, nothing seems to be consistent except change. it's filled with SO many changes, i get really frustrated.
but in the midst of all the frustrations, i thank God for always being with me. i would be lying if i said through all these i have never thought about just letting go everything, be selfish and heck about everything else. but God is faithful and gracious. He brings people in my paths to encourage me and walk with me. :)
i am doing everything that i am suppose to do. everything that is right. but is it something i really want in life? what's my calling? till i find out, i have to continue to perservere. :)
being anywhere, be it the marketplace or the church, there is something to learn and each has its own "problems".
will you take His hand and let Him take the lead? :)
i will end with a quote by Pastor AR Bernard. he shared during the conference.
"..Fishes can be in the ocean, but they're not salty.."
a very nice illustration about us in the marketplace. what you think? :) and i want to add, the salt in the ocean, keeps the fishes fresh. :) what do you think about that?
loads of food for thoughts.
shall head back to the notes...
pray for me.
my exams are on 1st & 2nd Dec at Singapore Expo at 3pm for both papers. :)
cheerios~ :)

WOOHOO!
let's see. let's start with the F1.
LEWIS HAMILTON WON!!youngest racer to win the world championship title. :) totally inspiring. and the drama that i adore for the year, (The Kiss Again), the female lead won the best drama actress at one of the awards ceremony!! :) and and and! Obama won the America Presidential Elections!! is that all good news or what?! :P
Anyways, fell sick in the mid of the week. had a day of rest and it's back to work.
and it ended well with a good cell group meeting (personally) and another fantastic weekend service (again personally). though it was a little deep and abit hard to catch what Ps Silvoso was speaking cuz of his deep accent but i caught the golden nugget nonetheless. :)
for cell group, Jacq was praying for me. it was quite a long time since someone prayed for me. like not asked to but prompted to. and what she prayed about touched my heart. like really close to heart. and really thank her for it. then for service, Ps Silvoso started the service differently. he made us all say a prayer for our personal lives as individuals before he started preaching. then, there was this point in time where he made all of us visualise something and then asked us to look at our hands. our palms.
Acts 19:11-12
Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.
isn't it just amazing?! i'm like totally amazed. once again, we're reminded that we did not choose but were chosen. it's deep. Who did it? God! by who? Paul! even the things brought from his body, just elements! could do miracles. Never belittle even the smallest action you've done. you never know what wonderful things it will do. By faith, lifting it into His hands, and He'll do the rest. Sometimes it really is hard to not take things in our own hands especially when we think that it's within our own capacity. you know what i mean? oh wells. reminders. :)
then, Ps Silvoso ended by saying "the things you do within the next 24 hours will determine your remaining months of the year" it sounded like a challenge. an exciting one. :)
anyways, after the service i headed to expo for a rehearsal for the Asia Conference. Don't wanna disclose much. all i can say is...it's gonna be exciting and the committee has put in ALOT of effort as always. :) come if you can make it. you won't regret! :)
k. oh i wanna say..i remembered what i did on Monday!(from my last 2nd post)
i was with the NTO in the evening then i was with my family at night. :)
time for bed. :) i still have a irritating blocked nose. pray for healings for me ok? :)
and all i wanna say is...NO MORE MONDAY BLUES!! :)
LOVES! :)

The Latter Days Will Be Better
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
it's going to be my turn to be in hibernation mood. :X though there's loadsa activities coming up.
sms me when you miss me. sms me too to cheer me on. otherwise you can find me at home, at work and in church. :)
till December~ :)
Loves!

It Never Stops
The second hand on the clock never stops moving to remind you time is passing.
The work on hand never stops coming in and just when you thought you've finally finished, you see another stack coming in. =(
One event passes and another one comes up shortly after.
This is just what life is about isnt it?
Just when you feel that you've reached your limit, you receive revelation that that isnt your limit afterall.
"...For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future... "
It feels only yesterday I graduated from primary school.
It feels only yesterday I got into secondary school.
It feels only yesterday I made MYT my besties.
It feels only yesterday I graduated from secondary school.
It feels only yesterday I got into poly and knew 2 groups of wonderful friends from TA05 and crusade.
It feels only yesterday we all graduated and moved on to continue studying or start working.
It all feels only as if it happened yesterday.
But...
It's been years, some; more than a decade.
So nostalgic.
Was walking along JP before meeting my family for dinner.Seeing the students in their uniforms and all these thoughts just flooded my mind.
somehow a heartache. a longing that those good days didnt stop. all that joy and silly-ness. glimpses of Heaven.
but we know we all have different directions and callings in life.
and life goes on ... ... fruitfully i hope.
"...I foresaw the LORD always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence..."

this is what i call...FAITH.
i think it's lovely.
it's the simpliest kind of faith.
Forsaking All, I Trust Him.
Subject: Isaiah 65:24 - 'Before they call, I will answer'
This story was written by a doctor who worked in South Africa.
One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in spite of all we could do, she died leaving us with a tiny premature baby and a crying two-year-old daughter. We would have difficulty keeping the baby alive, as we had no incubator (we had no electricity to run an incubator).
We also had no special feeding facilities. Although we lived on the equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool that the baby would be wrapped in.
Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle, it had burst (rubber perishes easily in tropical climates). 'And it is our last hot water bottle!' she exclaimed. As in the West, it is no good crying over spilled milk so in Central Africa it might be considered no good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and there are no drugstores down forest pathways.
'All right,' I said, 'put the baby as near the fire as you safely can, and sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts. Your job is to keep the baby warm.'
The following noon, as I did most days, I went to have prayers with any of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle, and that the baby could so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old sister, crying because her mother had died.
During prayer time, one ten-year old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual blunt conciseness of our African children. 'Please, God' she prayed, 'send us a water bottle. It'll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby will be dead, so please send it this afternoon.' While I gasped inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added, 'And while You are about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she'll know You really love her?'
As often with children's prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I honestly say, 'Amen'? I just did not believe that God could do this. Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything, the Bible says so. But there are limits, aren't there? The only way God could answer this particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from homeland. I had been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never, ever received a parcel from home.
Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water bottle? I lived on the equator! Halfway through the afternoon, while I was teaching in the nurses' training school, a message was sent that there was a car at my front door..
By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there, on the veranda, was a large twenty-two pound parcel. I felt tears pricking my eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage children. Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly. Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were focused on the large cardboard box.
From the top, I lifted out brightly colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out. Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the children looked a little bored. Then came a box of mixed raisins and sultanas - that would make a batch of buns for the weekend. Then, as I put my hand in again, I felt the.....could it really be? I grasped it and pulled it out - yes, a brand-new, rubber hot water bottle. I cried. I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that He could.. Ruth was in the front row of the children. She
rushed forward, crying out, 'If God has sent the bottle, He must have sent the dolly too!' Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she pulled out the small, beautifully dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She had never doubted! Looking up at me, she asked: 'Can I go over with you and give this dolly to that little girl, so she'll know that Jesus really loves her!'
That parcel had been on the way for five whole months. Packed up by my former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God's prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator. And one of the girls had put in a dolly for an African child - five month s before, in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring it 'that afternoon'.
'Before they call, I will answer' (Isaiah 65:24) This awesome prayer takes less than a minute. When you receive this, say the prayer, that's all you have to do. No strings attached. Just send it on to whomever you want - but do send it on. Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. T here is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue praying for one another !
'Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now.
I am asking You to minister to their spirit at this very moment.
Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy.
Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence to work through them.
Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by revealing Your nearness, and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You.
Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage.
Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders and friends to support
and encourage them.
Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them, and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it.
I ask you to do these things in Jesus' name. '
P.S. Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend will bless you both. Passing this on to one not considered a friend is something Christ would do.
'Do not ask the Lord to guide your footsteps if you're not willing to move your feet.

what's been happening the past week
i missed class on monday to head to min's place to see what you see below. success! with the help from her mommy and chea chea. :) then rushed off to JP to meet my aunt, mom, cousin and bro. my aunt treated us to pizza hut! :)
so yea. headed home after service. took a nap. i'm very deprived of sleep! :(
and i just went to F1's official site and Lewis Hamilton won this week's race! hahaha!i've been taking note. :X for fun. :)
oh ya! the emails are still active. :)
now it's..."bear loves you with all the teddy love & krisy loves you with all the cream in the world & tabi loves you with all the smiles in her heart!"
haha. so sweet.
thats all for this week.
i leave you with... :)
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
God bless =)
With much love. :)

What I Wanna Share
Some wise person ( can't remember who) says...
If one think that suicide is the solutions to their problems, it's not.
Suicide is a permanent decision to a temporary situation.
how true eh? how silly humans can get.
i got a slight shock in the late afternoon today.
received a call that my daddy's heading to AH. got referred there by the doctor. he went to see the doctor cuz he was having double visions. freaked me out. and it made me realise...
i'm growing up and daddy's getting old.
feel like crying at that thought.
anyways, he's back home. just have to observe for one week and see what happens. he will be on medication(eye drops i think)
help me keep my daddy in prayers.
not a very good day for me.
hopefully the week gets better.
