this emo week

just gonna share a 'short' paragraph about the whole happening last week

well, as most would already know, my close friend experienced a loss.
most of us, when we got the news, we were all shocked. and then it hit some of us that this could happen to anyone of us.
suddenly, we all know we're not prepared for all this.
being a 'thinker', thought alot. i didn't really ask why. but i asked what.
i was asking what does He want me to learn out of this.
Being the eldest, she had to shoulder most of the responsibilities. and her siblings had been really supportive of each other.
each one of them truly a darling. know all of them and their mommy personally.
i can't remember how but it's goes quite some time back.

they have been really strong. lessons learnt (for me).

was at the funeral every night with some of the others. trying to help in little ways we know how so that they could get some rest.
not trying to be really sacrificial. wanted a break from work too.
made a couple of new friends. been some time since i actually made new friends. haha.
all nice little brothers and sisters.

i am a person whom can get quite emotional mainly cuz i'm a thinker. i am a people-person. friends matter. alot. especially when they need company.
a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. so, maybe some can say, why i'm getting so 'involved', it's just me. haha. hate me? =p

anyways, also went for Mayday's concert with some of the peers.
sadly, i didnt really enjoy it. don't get me wrong.
the show was nice. wasn't about the lightings. wasn't about the fanciful costumes.
really just 5 big boys doing their thing, show-casing their talents and passion.
chinese songs are known to be more emo. so with the passing of the week. it just wasn't enjoyable.
i mean i would be weird to be able to high after being so low rite? but it was a good show nonetheless.
we were there till 12.20am. coolness :)

then rushed to airport to send off my cousin. he was flying back to the states for a couple of months before coming back again to serve the nation.
my uncle kept saying we're a couple. LOL.
well, he holds the height i hope my boyfriend would have. haha :) and he definitely has the charisma. =p

ok. so that's all for this week.

a new week begins tml. and i already know there are loads of work to be done.
so dear Lord grant me the strength, wisdom and peace that i need. Amen.

on a day like this,
i took a chance to take a rest
our faith was put to a short test

looking up towards the sky and the clouds plus the sounds
it's been quite some time i had time to pause

a dear friend just experienced a sudden loss.
the family held close to my heart.
helping in little ways

making some new friends and seeing the old
all of us affected in one way or another

could not imagine if it was me
i'm a pampered little princess at home.
he always calls me the princess
a close relationship we hold
and i know he's always there, my support in life

a glimpse of heaven is what the people around me always show
blessings they have been in my life
each having a different love langauge
but love there is and will always be

things that suddenly happen
sometimes we find it hard to reckon
but we find peace through our Lord
and we pick up and move on
running towards the goal our Lord has set us for

we live each day with renewed strength
we support each other in small ways we know
we love each other the best we have been taught
we have faith that GOd is in control

MM Lee outlines two challenges for Singapore to undertake

SINGAPORE: Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has highlighted two challenges for Singapore to undertake in order to do well in the next five to ten years. Speaking on Thursday at the annual National Day Dinner at his Tanjong Pagar constituency, the minister mentor said Singapore can reach a new level of development, but difficulties will crop up along the way. To resolve them, the nation must always face them squarely and work together. The first challenge is integrating new citizens and permanent residents (PRs) with the local population. The speed of this process depends on the openness of Singaporeans who are born and raised here, and the willingness of new citizens to adapt and be part of the Singapore society. Mr Lee explained that without immigration, the ageing problem will be too heavy a burden for the young. Immigrants who can be integrated without upsetting the racial balance are in Singapore's interest. He said: "We need immigrants to make up for the children we are not having. That's a very hard fact of life. Between age 25 and 40, more than 30 per cent are unmarried – that means single and childless. "Those who marry have an average of 1.28 children – replacement is 2.1. If we do not have educated Malaysians, China Chinese and India Indians and others from the region, our economy will decline and our labour force will shrink." Mr Lee, however, assured Singaporeans that the government is conscious of protecting the interests of citizens. In fact, there is a clear distinction between citizens and PRs in terms of HDB housing, hospital charges, education fees and the Resilience Package. On the other hand, he added that Singapore cannot make the immigration process so onerous that no one comes. For example, it cannot insist that PRs or new citizens be fluent in English when even some existing citizens are not. Mr Lee's second challenge is to encourage Chinese Singaporeans to speak more Mandarin and to take up scholarships to study in China's top universities. He said Singapore needs 200 to 300 A-level students to be proficient in both languages and cultures to manage the work with China – both government-to-government and in the private sector. He added: "This does not mean we are displacing English as our working and common language – our first language. English will remain the master language for all Singaporeans. "Our new immigrants know that in Singapore, without an adequate command of English, they cannot go far. The command of English is the decisive factor for the career path and promotion prospects of all Singaporeans." As for the resident population, Mr Lee said the government is conscious of the need to keep the character and values of the Singapore society, so it is carefully controlling the inflow of PRs and new citizens to maintain this balance.
