wiser?

just the other day, i was emailing and was mentioning about how we've over time, grown wiser in handling situations in life. In terms of temper, emotions, thoughts as well as actions.

sometimes, is it really us growing wiser and more mature? or, to put it in a more crude manner, have we just simply become more selfish and just don't really care or bother about it anymore?

i mean, you have to not care before you can turn a cold shoulder to something or someone ain't it?

why do you think?
